One of the deep impluses of the human mind is the craving to know. Curiosity is a characteristic instinctive reaction on the part of a human being. We wish to understand the world arround us, its source, meaning and its value. This instinctive curiosity of man has given birth to all the enterprises of knowledge, philosophy being one of the oldest. The etymological meaning of the word philosophy is love of wisdom. It signifies a natural urge in human beings to know themselves, the world and to understand the mystery of universe. It is almost impossible to live without a philosophy. The main objectives of the department is to inculcate a taste for critical thinking in the students, to develop an attitude, wherein the opposing views and arguments are given equal consideration and intellectual disputes are decided on their merit.
